When
- water is clear, the depth known and
the bottom free from obstacles.
Why – This
entry is used mainly as a water confidence building activity it forms part of
the learning sequence, the disadvantage of this entry for lifesaving purpose,
is you can’t keep an eye on the casualty at all time while enter the water.
How –
● look at the point of entry
● step (not jump) gently out from
the edge
● keep the knees slightly flexed
and legs ready to give when the feet touch the bottom (the technique is similar
to that required for stepping from a chair on to the floor)
This entry is used mainly as a
confidence building activity. Form part of the learning sequence, between
sliding in and more advanced entries, such as the compact jump.
